Mighty God

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Aren’t mighty and God redundant? Not particularly. Mighty is merely one attribute of God’s, one of many. It describes His power and authority. Mighty describes his sovereignty and his reign over the world.

Remember, this attribute was given to the baby born in a trough in an insignificant Middle East town 2000 years ago. How on earth, then, could this little child be called Mighty God? It seems like an incredibly risky thing to do.

Two thousand years later millions in every corner of the globe call out to this Mighty God.

What once was incredibly risky now becomes an amazingly brilliant thing to do.
