Mocking at Justice

A corrupt witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down evil. Proverbs 19:28

Corruption is not a new thing in our society. It’s been around for a long while it seems. The root of it is equally old: pride. Think of it. Why does someone lie while they are testifying in court? It certainly has to do with not wanting to get caught, which is pride (not wanting others to find out the truth because it might embarrass you.

The Bible teaches us that just because people are doing things and “getting away with it” doesn’t mean it’s a good thing. Lying about something you’ve seen will get you nowhere. In fact, the Bible notes that that kind of person “mocks at justice.”

One nation (among many) deserves your prayers: South Sudan. It was formed only two weeks ago but many would like to destroy and undermine its existence. Pray that God will continue to restore justice to this very fragile nation.
