those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth. Proverbs 30:12
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away. Isaiah 64:6
I start this devotional with another verse because it sums up our sins up nicely. We have nothing but filth on our record, so to speak. We really have nothing to brag about. Even the “best” of us really are unclean without a thorough washing from Christ. All the works and acts of charity in the world is insufficient to cleanse us.
But it doesn’t stop many from thumbing a nose at God and living as if there were no afterlife.
Today, consider your walk with Christ. How is it? Can you still recall what it was like when you were brand new in the faith?
Or perhaps you’ve been observing Christianity from afar. You’re curious. I and any number of my other readers would love to talk with you some time about that curiosity. Drop us a line. At the very least, tell us how we can pray for you.
