Much Better Than Life

Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. Psalm 63:3

King David made a pretty bold statement right here. What can you think of would be better than life itself? Water? Food? Security? Love of friends and family?

While all of those contribute greatly to life and are necessary for living, they are not better than life. David made it clear what it was, the love of God Almighty.

The Apostle Paul emphasized that point:

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

David also told us how he responded to that love. We can certainly learn from his example of glorifying God, but we can do it any time we want and for whatever reason. Again, our motivation should be because we want to not because we have to. We could spend all of our lives never needing to glorify God, but we’d certainly lose out on the blessings that come from glorifying God.
