13 In the sight of God, who gives life to everything, and of Christ Jesus, who while testifying before Pontius Pilate made the good confession, I charge you 14 to keep this command without spot or blame until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 1 Timothy 6:13:14
Paul wrote this towards the end of his life. He didn’t know, nor does anybody know when the Lord Jesus Christ would appear. We do know that His appearing is closer now than it ever has been. You see it in how the world is becoming more and more corrupt, how sin is more blatant and “in your face,” and how almost the entire world has sided against the tiny nation of Israel. Syria, Russia, Iraq, Iran, and Turkey are all front page news these days. We don’t know when but we do know somethings brewing.
The Lord Jesus Christ will return again for his children. We know not the day nor the hour.
His return is imminent.
There’s excitement in the air; there’s also heavier persecution in the world.
Satan’s reign on this earth is nearing.
So, what was the command Paul told Timothy to keep:
Verse 12 – Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses
Keep fighting. Keep trusting. Keep watching…for our redemption is near.
