Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you, and I will instruct you in the good and the right way. 1 Samuel 12:23
Samuel was speaking to the nation of Israel when he said these words. He was revered among the people, and they were asking that he would in fact pray over them.
Samuel knew his people. They were a troubled people. He knew that he needed to hold them in prayer as if their existence depended on it. That was a nation of a few million people, so how could he pray over all of them? He prayed over them as a community, their leaders, against their enemies, and their families.
It’s something that we could adopt into our lives as well. We can’t cover an entire nation, but we can pray for families we know. Think of what kind of an impact you would have if you did that. Think of the impact they would have if you did that. You could let them know you’re doing it or keep it a secret between you and them.
Again, you’re not solving all the world’s problems all at once, but you are blessing a family you know in ways they will never know!
