1 I have a message from God in my heart
concerning the sinfulness of the wicked:
There is no fear of God
before their eyes. Psalm 36:1

David begins Psalm 36 by stating the obvious: wicked men and women do not fear God.

Ok, so what do we do with that observation?

I think, more than anything, it’s a reminder that there is evil in the world. Some people will stop at nothing to get the end they desire. There is no fear of retribution or punishment as they get bolder and bolder with their evil. In fact, when we see blatant evil, we want to try to explain it away with statements such as “that wasn’t intentional.” When enough of the “unintentional” events occur, you have to ask a different question: “why is he/she so ruthless and cold?

The answer: there is no fear of God before their eyes.
