The commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not covet,” and whatever other command there may be, are summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Romans 13:9-10
Walking in obedience to the Word of God is not about us. Paul uses the commandments written in Exodus to illustrate that point neatly. All of those “you shall not” acts are against others for our benefit.
Loving your neighbor, on the other hand, is about the neighbor, not you. You may receive some benefit from the relationship but it’s a byproduct of the relationship.
Think of one way you can display that love today. Many times these acts are spontaneous but they can be planned as well. Go out of your way to love someone today.
