25 Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you. Psalm 73:25
Asaph asked a rhetorical question but it’s still relevant for us. That’s why the people we hear about who are enduring incredible suffering for the Sake of Christ can make it another day. They realize that nothing on this earth is anything, and Christ is everything. That’s why Christians who are burned out of their homes and churches and are forced to flee their homeland can echo Asaph, “Whom have I in heaven but you?”
Often we become so consumed with our lives and immediate surroundings that we forget the true suffering that exists in the world. Part of my goal with this daily devotional is keeping the suffering church in the hearts and minds of those of us in the West.
Take a close look at this verse again. Is it your desire also?
