3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:3-6
Have you ever wondered why Believers just “get it?” What I mean by that is that even though there are many mysteries in the Christian faith, faith in Jesus Christ is the only way to get to heaven. It just seems so obvious, doesn’t it?
Think back, though, to before you were a Believer. Was it obvious then? Of course not, but why not? Verse 4 talks about this very concept: “the god of this age blinded” us.
That’s why it’s completely acceptable to pray that “blinders would be removed” from the eyes of unbelievers. Those blinders are an impedance to their faith. Ultimately it’s God who works in them to remove those blinders and to help them understand the Gospel. But when the blinders do come off, it’s like they’re able to see again.
Someone you know has blinders on. Pray hard that God would remove the blinders and draw that person close to Christ. Only the Spirit of God can remove the blinders and draw them closer.
