2 With your hand you drove out the nations
and planted our ancestors;
you crushed the peoples
and made our ancestors flourish.
3 It was not by their sword that they won the land,
nor did their arm bring them victory;
it was your right hand, your arm,
and the light of your face, for you loved them. Psalm 44:2-3
The nation of Israel rarely did anything truly lovable. They rejected God frequently. They turned to false idols regularly. They complained about their plight roaming around Mt. Sinai. They were just not a lovable people.
And yet God loved them.
Let that sink in.
Wholly unlovable, but He loved them.
Just like he crushed the people who were troubling Israel, so will He help you to crush your enemies.
What does that mean exactly? It means that with the Holy Spirit taking up residence in you, there is nothing you cannot conquer. No sin. No temptation. No relationship conflict. No worry. No fear. The Holy Spirit of God is within you and me. We are not by any means divine, but we don’t have the same power that raised Christ from the dead (Romans 8:11) living within us.
I don’t use it that often, but today I can: Awesome!
