A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble. Proverbs 17:20
Have you ever watched the news or read the magazine articles in which perverted men and women are indeed prospering and living like there’s no tomorrow? Of course, we all have. So then, what gives with this verse?
The principle is still clear. Just like the theme of many black and white movies was “crime doesn’t pay,” so too those with perverse hearts will not thrive either. You and I both know that there will be a day when we will be held accountable for our sins, each and every one of us.
- Those people thumbing their noses at God? They will be held accountable.
- Those men and women who have indulged in all the perversions known to man? They will be held accountable.
- Those leaders who have used and abused those under them for pleasure and personal gain? They will be held accountable.
- Those who have called on the name of the Lord Jesus? They (we) will be held accountable.
God has provided a way through Jesus Christ that we may all be rescued from our sins. We can and should continue to pray and weep for the godless and the godlessness in our society, but ultimately those individuals will need to make a decision about Jesus Christ.
