19 If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
20 They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
22 I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies. Psalm 139:19-22
It’s almost as if David was dreaming about God’s thoughts and is suddenly awakened to the reality he was facing.
It’s very easy to become cynical like this in our own lives.
We read and hear the news around the world and wonder where God is in all of this. We see the government and business corruption, wars and rumors of wars, market meltdowns, and godlessness thriving.
Plus there are the unmentionable atrocities happening behind closed doors against women and children by Muslims – and subsequently covered up by media and governments alike – that should make us all weep.
More to the point at home, we stand up for a moral good, and get shut down by those who have no morals, and wonder when it will all cease. We know that heaven awaits us, but it sure does sadden and anger us to think what we have to do to get there.
We do what we can and leave the results to God. We’re supposed to let our light shine wherever we are.
That’s why we need to be renewed and refreshed every day.
Take some time today to just meditate on God’s goodness in the face of evil. Then go out and fight a new day!

amen to God’s word! we must keep “looking up” and seeing God’s goodness – which has nothing to do with all the evil that is happening in the world. We cannot blame God for any of the evil – we must keep our faith and our eyes on God at all times.
