8 Hear me, my people, and I will warn you—if you would only listen to me, Israel!
9 You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. Psalm 81:8-10
The warning is clear to the Israelites: no other Gods. We recognize this as the first commandment God handed down to Moses. The last verse in this passage is also very prescriptive: let me fulfill you. That is actually a principle sprinkled throughout the entire Bible. In essence, the Lord is saying, “You can have many things in your life but only I can satisfy.”
This is a lesson we can easily learn every day because so many “things” vie for our attention in this life.
Only One satisfies.
Only One.
