Our Adversary, The Devil

4 Keep me safe, Lord, from the hands of the wicked;
protect me from the violent,
who devise ways to trip my feet.
5 The arrogant have hidden a snare for me;
they have spread out the cords of their net
and have set traps for me along my path. Psalm 140:4-5

We all know that our adversary, the Devil, is out to destroy up. He uses a number of tools in his toolbox to do it. He’ll use your strengths if you overconfident about them and rely on them. He’ll use your weakness at every turn if he could. He is not all powerful but he will seem that way.

Let me repeat this again: the devil is out to destroy you and me. Period. He doesn’t play games. The better we understand that simple concept, the “easier” it will be to recognize his tactics and be on our guard again him. If we don’t recognize his tactics, it’s impossible to guard.

Thankfully we are never alone when he attacks us. Pray that the Holy Spirit help us to recognize those tactics more and more in our lives. We certainly need that discernment.
