Overseer of Your Souls

24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 25 For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.

1 Peter 2:24-25

One of the hallmarks of the Christian life is to die to sins and live for righteousness.

No other faith in the world pairs those two qualities together. Many tell you to live a good life. Many tell you to die to yourself.

Our example, of course, is Christ Himself, who did both.

Both qualities take a fair amount of humility because it acknowledges that we are not the center of our universe despite what the world teaches us.

Instead, daily entrusting our lives into the Overseer of our souls is really the only way to live the Christian life.

Dying to self and living for Christ is the Christian way to peace and contentment.
