Patting Your Own Back

It is not good to eat much honey, nor is it glorious to seek one’s own glory (English Standard Version). Proverbs 25:27

Have you ever met anyone who dislocated their shoulders trying to pat their own backs? Sure, it’s a joke but you know the type of people I’m talking about:

They love to hear themselves talk.
They like to be complimented.
They just love to be noticed.
They like when you talk about them.

Let’s face it, we’re all human. There are times when any one of those traits applies to us. When others begin noticing that trait in you, then it’s time to change course and investigate why you need the “glory.”

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. Philippians 2:3
