5 May the Lord bless you from Zion;
may you see the prosperity of Jerusalem
all the days of your life.
6 May you live to see your children’s children—peace be on Israel. Psalm 128:5-6
This week at the Olympics in Rio, an Israeli judo athlete defeated his opponent from Egypt. After the match, the Egyptian refused to shake the Israeli’s hand, and later said, “you can’t ask me to shake the hand of a man from this State.”
After thousands of years, Israel is still undergoing persecution, and it was made vivid in an international sporting event. Recall 44 years ago when 11 Israeli athletes were taken hostage and killed by a Palestinian terror group named Black September. Almost a half century later, Muslims are still being taught to hate even Jewish athletes.
