Penetrating Power of God

The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. John 1:9-10

Everything John the Baptist did pointed to the Messiah, Jesus Christ. He continued to tell the world that the Light would come (and in fact, the Light had already came but was waiting to be revealed) but no one believed John. When the Light of the World finally began his ministry, the world still did not believe He was the Light. The Jews did not want to believe that the Messiah would come on their watch, as it were, even though many were waiting specifically for Him to come.

Even though His people have been around for more than 2000 years and are witnesses to that Light, there are still many skeptics who claim He never came in the first place or that He wasn’t the true Light.

The Light still shines even in the midst of the darkness. It still penetrates the hearts of the most hardened skeptics. We mustn’t lose heart when we hear of such skeptics but should pray fervently for the Light of the World to reveal Himself. Many of us were in that same situation, doubting, scoffing, and mocking the Light and the Witnesses. We know what it’s like; we understand the darkness all too well but forget the pain and misery we went through before we believed. Even the hardest heart cannot withstand the penetrating power of God.
