Pick Me! Pick Me!

Blessed are those you choose and bring near to live in your courts!
We are filled with the good things of your house, of your holy temple. Psalm 65:4

When we were kids it was always fun to be chosen first or second when leaders were dividing up people for teams. when we were even smaller, we would yell “pick me, pick me!” If we had “proven” ourselves in sports we wouldn’t need to yell anymore because people knew how well you played if we were good.

The kingdom of God fortunately does not rely on the athletic prowess, aesthetic beauty, wealth, or even the great deeds of its participants. The kingdom is filled with people who have called on the name Jesus Christ as their savior.

We get to enjoy kingdom privileges – the “good things of His house” – from day one.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. Ephesians 1:4

I’m pretty sure I don’t understand why or how or when of this choice, but I’m certainly glad it happened.

And I didn’t even have to yell, “pick me, pick me!”
