Pieces Falling Together

5 Then Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. 6 She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. “This is one of the Hebrew babies,” she said.

7 Then his sister asked Pharaoh’s daughter, “Shall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?”

8 “Yes, go,” she answered. So the girl went and got the baby’s mother. 9 Pharaoh’s daughter said to her, “Take this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.” So the woman took the baby and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses, saying, “I drew him out of the water.” Exodus 2:5-10

It was certainly no coincidence that Pharaoh’s daughter was bathing in the Nile at the same time Moses’ basket was passing by. Again, we see the Lord using one of the highest offices in the land to further His kingdom. Not only was he saved but he was nurtured by his own mother at the insistence of the Pharaoh’s daughter.

Obviously this was a “God moment” where everything aligned perfectly and the pieces fell into place within a relatively short period of time. Often we get a piece or two put together but nothing like this.

As you’re reading this, you are probably recalling a few of those pieces he put together in often the most complex of ways. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, let this be one of those things to be thankful for, despite the number of years that may have passed. Keeping it alive in you memory is as important as the first time you recalled it.

Praise the Lord.
