The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases. Proverbs 21:1

God sovereignly directs the affairs of the nations. Recall when Pontius Pilate told Jesus that he had power to release Him. “You would have no power except that which has been given to you.” Who was in control of the situation despite being hours away from the cross? If He weren’t King of all Creation, his statement to Pilate would be totally absurd. It had to have taken Pilate by surprise.

We see wars and famine and floods and typhoons and earthquakes, and it’s easy to say that God is removed from the picture. Hardly. He is still controlling and directing, probably not the way we would do it, but then again, we’re not Him. Thankfully.

Today, pray for your nation’s leaders. The world is in economic chaos and leaders desperately need wisdom on how to manage the collapse that is imminent.
