3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 1:3
Peter begins this section with an admonition of God’s great mercy.
The new birth he speaks of, of course, is our new birth in Christ. This resurrection he also speaks about give us an enduring hope.
That’s what the Scripture says, but what does it mean?
It means this life we know, the one with our toils and troubles, it’s temporary. We have something much greater and better to look forward to. And yet, we really don’t have a clue about what awaits us. We merely have a smattering of descriptions in the Word of God, but I’m certain it doesn’t do it any justice.
It also means were are given a new lease on life. We don’t have to do the things we used to do. Instead, we get to do some amazing things for the glory of God.
Rest today in the living hope through Christ’s resurrection. That hope will not get old and fade away, but will continue to shine brighter as His appearing nears.
