17 pray continually, 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Similar to ‘rejoice always,’ pray continually has a “that’s impossible” feel to it.
However, those of you with children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews you are close to understand this verse inherently. You know what it’s like to constantly be thinking about those kids’ welfare throughout the day. You pray because you can’t be there to protect them. Prayer is your only source of comfort when they’re not in your sight.
Then you find different ways of praying for them because “protect them” and “bless them” gets old after the thousandth time that morning!
And if you’re praying continually for those children, you are probably also rejoicing that God is protecting them and blessing them.
That’s the spirit of “pray continually,” a verse that will probably be easy enough to memorize before you’re done closing your browser or email for the morning.
