1 Do you rulers indeed speak justly?
Do you judge people with equity?
2 No, in your heart you devise injustice,
and your hands mete out violence on the earth. Psalm 58:1-2
As David noted here, there were unjust rulers back in his time, much like there are unjust rulers now. People then had similar motives for ruling unjustly much like they do now. If we were to dig a little deeper, the subjects of money, power, sex, and control would be prime reasons for injustices then, much as they are prime reasons for leaders to be corrupt now.
It’s sin nature. I’d like to think that we’d do better if we were in those positions, but when you control and distribute large amounts of money, the money and control and power is very tempting and alluring.
Today as the New Year begins, pray for an elected official (local, state or federal, it does not matter). They need Godly men and women to pray that they would have wisdom and constraint as they make decisions that affect lives. Then, drop them a line and let them know you prayed for them. It doesn’t have to be a big deal or a lengthy letter, and it’s probably a bigger deal for them than it is for us. But do pray for them.

good message – great idea – going to try it this year!
