Let my prayer be counted as incense before you, and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice! Psalm 141:2
What an incredible word-picture for us all.
Recall in the Old Testament when a priest went into sacrifice, he put the sacrifice on an altar and burned it as a fragrance pleasing to the Lord. Then they offered incense to the Lord. It was a ritual that the priests frequently performed, but it pleased the Lord.
We really don’t know cumulative power of our prayers. In other words, are they being answered now but also being stored up in volume to be accredited to our “rewards” account? King David seemed to think they did.
Going back to recent prayer devotionals, the act of praying and listening to God is what pleases Him. He wants to spend time with us. I don’t think we quite understand that. We think He’s too busy running the world or something. But He’s the ultimate multitasker! He can run the world, the universe, and take care of you and 7 billion of your closest friends and still have time for one more.
Come to Him early and often and sit in His presence. Take a load off your mind and heart. Rest in His peace.
