Preeminent

And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth. Psalm 89:27

This verse runs parallel to Colossians 1:15

The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.

Firstborn in this context means preeminence, and in both verses the latter half expands upon the first half.

Whether it’s “all creation” or “most exalted of the kings” Jesus reigns supreme. And yet, how do you compare the Son of God to any earthly king? What other king is 100% just, righteous, good, gentle, good, sovereign, eternal, omnipotent, risen from the dead, and seated at the right hand of God the Father at this very minute?

Right.

None.
