Present Tense

9 For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. 10 He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:9-11

This is an interesting phrase: “whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.” We know that when we die we will be with Him, just as those before us who have died are with him. But we’re still here and we still can live with him while we’re alive. He is present tense.

No matter the worry, concern, problem, trouble, joy, sorrow, or pain, He is living with us right now. Present tense. Don’t miss the significance of those two words.

We do not have to wait till night to call on him.

We can do it now. Right now.
