2 In vain you rise early and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat—for he grants sleep to those he loves. Psalm 127:2
It’s interesting how some people need 8-9 hours of sleep while others can get by with only five or six hours. Which one is refreshed more? I’m sure the professional sleep specialists would say that the eight hours is the best rested but who knows?
The best sleep, though, is one with a clear conscience. It’s peaceful and relaxing. Sure there may be turmoil all around you but sleeping with a clear conscience and with eternal security is, as the commercial says, priceless.
Still, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the hecticness of the day that we forget very basic eternal principles, namely, our name’s written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and heaven is going to be so different than we ever imagined. Those two principles alone are enough to bring pleasure to our souls.
As you’re nodding off this evening, rejoice in your salvation and praise His name!
