[pursue] godliness 1 Timothy 6:11c
Earlier we learned that “godliness with contentment is great gain.” Paul now wants us to pursue godliness. So, what is it? It is letting God live through us so that we are god-like. We’re not divine in the least, but we can live God out in our lives.
For many years the letters WWJD was very popular. What Would Jesus Do? It was taken from a Charles Sheldon book, “In His Steps.” It’s asking ourselves if Jesus were right here right now, what would He do? Unfortunately the meme died out and it became a joke to many.
In today’s devotional, I take the same turn. What would God do in this situation? Letting God live through us demands that we ask that question. It affects our speech, eating and drinking habits, actions (including driving), writing (anonymous forum and blog posts included), and our thoughts. We can’t escape Him even though we momentarily forget about Him.
But we can hear Him calling out, “Pursue Me. Pursue godliness. It’s worth it. I’m worth it. Never stop that pursuit. Seek me, find me for I am not that far away.”
