12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been subjected to violence, and violent people have been raiding it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 Whoever has ears, let them hear. Matthew 11:12-15
Multitudes of people came to listen and sit under the ministry of John the Baptist and Jesus.
People walked for miles to see and hear them and to be blessed or healed by them.
Recall at one point in Jesus’ ministry that people tore a hole in the roof to let down a sick person for Him to heal.
There was excitement and zeal. People were forceful and clamoring to be part of this ministry. Even when He was at sea for a night, the throngs were waiting for Him on the other side (Luke 5:3). (for more on this discussion, see Got Questions.org). They saw someone who gave them Hope..
When there’s a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit, we see this kind of clamoring and excitement throughout the world.
When we lived in Mongolia, hundreds were turned away regularly to events where the Gospel was taught. They saw hope where there was no hope before.
May we once again experience this kind of revival and outpouring of God’s Spirit!
