6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. Genesis 3:6
So Adam was with Eve when they ate the fruit! He has no excuse. Notice that the forbidden fruit was good to eat and pleasing to the eye. It always is. Until you eat it. But inside the stomach – after it’s been eaten – it’s awful. You regret it and promise you’ll never eat it again. Until you do.
But we always return to the fact that we have a helper in times of need, the Holy Spirit. Temptation is real and it is overcomeable. Let that sink in a bit.
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
