13 But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 1 Peter 4:13
The Bible tells those who suffer to rejoice. I don’t recall ever being in a prayer meeting where we rejoiced in the sufferings of our fellow Believers, but that is a logical extension of this verse. Unfortunately, I cannot imagine telling someone, “Yes, I remember praising God that you were in prison for your faith.” We pray instead.
The point, I think is that suffering is a good thing in the Kingdom of God. It’s not something to be ashamed about. And of course we’re not alone when we suffer because millions around the world face the same fate. The Creator of the Universe underwent suffering when He had the power to bypass it altogether.
Rejoice when you suffer, and pray for those who do.
