Relying on the Holy Spirit

3 I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. 4 My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, 5 so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power. 1 Corinthians 2:3-5

Too often we rely on our own thinking and ideas to pull us through. God has given us an intellect and the wisdom to use it.

But he’s also given us the Holy Spirit for power. The Holy Spirit is infinitely more significant than our intellect.

Without the Holy Spirit in our lives, we are weak and ineffective. It’s even worse than that. Without the Spirit, we become discouraged and tired, frustrated and sinful. We lack the wisdom to make wise and discerning choices. In short, we have no power in our lives whatsoever.

The opposite is true with the Holy Spirit.

The question is, though, why would we go one day without relying on the Holy Spirit for the power we need to lead godly lives?
