Relying on God

The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD. Proverbs 21:31

As I mentioned in yesterday’s devotional, it’s easy to rely on military strength when there is very little “competition” close by. You think you are invincible. You think you will never have any real opposition.

Don’t forget that Britain ruled the world not too long ago. “The sun never sets on the British Empire” was the saying, and it was true. Look now, though, at the British military might. They are but a shadow of what they once were. The men and women they train now are outstanding soldiers but their influence over the world is greatly diminished.

Kingdoms come and go.
Militaries come and go.
Dictators come and go.

It is to a nation’s honor to acknowledge God as its source of strength. Sadly, very few nations are humble enough to recognize it.

Pray for your nation, they its leaders will honor God.
