12 Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. 13 Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
It’s true that church leaders are held to a higher standard than parishioners. They have responsibilities that too few appreciate and many would be astounded at the number of hours these leaders work each week. Plus they are called on to hear and counsel sinners and saints alike. It’s a thankless job and they have few close friends.
That’s why the Bible talks about holding them in the highest regard several times. They are not perfect, of course, but none of us are.
Take time this week to thank them through a letter, email, phone call, gifts, you choose. Pray that their ministry will be fruitful and they’ll have the time away from ministry as often as possible.
