11 Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me. Psalm 51:11
We know theologically that God doesn’t “take” his Holy Spirit from anyone, but sometimes it seems that way. It’s impossible for us to understand the immense love that God has for us. To discard us like trash is unthinkable.
In the events right after one or two people commit very evil crimes, parents of those individuals are interviewed. Rarely do those parents have negative things to say about their children. Why? Because they have a very different view (albeit skewed) of their own flesh and blood.
Rarely do you hear, “Yeah, he was rotten to the core. I’m not surprised one bit. I just didn’t think it would take so long!” No, we don’t hear that because the parents always see the angel in their little Bobby or Tammy.
While David felt forsaken and cast away, it was the farthest thing from God’s truth on the matter.
And so it is with us. God’s love for us is immeasurable and unchanging. We can admit that, like the second parent in the scenario above, we are rotten to the core, but you know what? He still loves us.
Why, oh why?
