Seasons

Lord, you are the God who saves me; day and night I cry out to you.
2 May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. Psalm 88:1-2

There are seasons in a person’s life when a prayer like this is as real as it gets. The tears flow. The prayers become more desperate. And yet it seems that God is distant, because if He had heard the prayer the first time, there wouldn’t be a need for the fiftieth or hundredth prayer? But as we all know, God’s answers are usually not that simple. Sometimes He answers right away, but often it’s a struggle.

Prayer as we all know is not a time to make requests to a divine Santa Claus but a time to strengthen and refresh our relationship with the Lord. Hopefully by the time we get to a “I need help” prayer, He’s heard our voice often!

If you’re in the midst of “the night” in your life, call out to Him early and often. Pursue Him with everything you have. Draw near to Him. He does care for you. Rest in that assurance.
