Let someone else praise you, and not your own mouth; an outsider, and not your own lips. Proverbs 27:2
Second hand praise is always good. It’s good when you receive it and it’s good when you give it away about others. There is just no “downside” to it. It’s a great solid principle that should be practiced often.
Here’s another angle to look at this: if you’re praising someone you aren’t gossiping or putting them down, something the Bible speaks at great length. And since the Bible goes to great length to point out our weakness in this area, it might be a great idea if we replace the rumors, innuendo, and gossip with praise.
How different would our lives be if we practiced this at least once – one time – every day? Again, I see no downside.
