20 If we had forgotten the name of our God
or spread out our hands to a foreign god,
21 would not God have discovered it,
since he knows the secrets of the heart?
22 Yet for your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. Psalm 44:20-22
The sons of Korah continue their lament but with the realization that it would be useless to forget God when all the “chips are down.” Why? Because He knows everything. Pretty simple.
And yet.
And yet we forget this fact all the time. Psalm 139 explains it all (and is alluded to in verse 21). We can’t hide, outrun, shy away from, or pretend in front of God. The fact is, we can’t even THINK about doing those things without God knowing about it.
How would our lives change if we “experienced the presence of God” all day every day? How would our thoughts changes? Our speech? Our attitudes? Our activities? It’s certainly a target worth aiming for.
