5 Surely God will bring you down to everlasting ruin:
He will snatch you up and pluck you from your tent;
he will uproot you from the land of the living. Psalm 52:5
David is still addressing those who “practice deceit.” I’ve said it in this space numerous times but it’s very easy to think that the wicked will go unpunished when we see it all around us today. Our justice department does what it thinks is best based on the evidence presented but too often cases are overturned on “technicalities.” And that’s for those cases where the criminal is apprehended. Just think how much evil and deceit goes on undetected by people.
Fortunately, or depending on your perspective, unfortunately, we serve a God who misses nothing. Nothing escapes Him. He may not act right away (which is a puzzle unto itself) but He certainly doesn’t not miss a thing. And by the sound of what’s in this verse, it won’t be pretty for the offenders.
This verse is a reminder for us not to worry or fret when we see evil in our midst. God sees. He hears. And one day He will act.
