Sheep Without a Shepherd

be sympathetic, 1 Peter 3:8b

Being sympathetic or compassionate means coming alongside someone who is hurting. Christ, of course, was our perfect model for compassion. He didn’t have time for many of religious rulers who were arrogant and condescending. But he did have compassion for the prostitutes, tax collectors, widows, orphans, the handicapped, and those who were lost and confused. He wasn’t condemning or spiteful. He took time for people. He wasn’t in a hurry to go to the next person.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9:36

We would do well to follow in His footsteps.
