But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.

One the one hand, often it feels like our enemies have us completely surrounded and are relentless in their hostilities. But on the extreme opposite is this: the Lord is our shield. What a contrast between the Sovereign Lord of the Universe and our enemies! All too often we forget where He is, especially when we’re right in the midst of battling our enemies. He’s a shield and encourager.
