As we read and understand the Word of God, we begin to experience these verses. In some things the Bible is a clear road map, and in others, it’s a giant jigsaw puzzle. Here’s what I mean. In some very clear instances we see lists of Do and Don’t/black and white principles. In many cases, however, He’s given us latitude in what to do.

For example, if you’re choosing a college to attend after high school, there’s nothing in the Scripture that specifically tells you to choose a technical college over a four-year liberal arts college, Ivy League school vs. a local community college. It doesn’t matter. However, it does matter who you date when you get to that school (for this example) and what that person brings to the relationship (believer vs non-believer). The principle of dating an unbeliever is biblical. Where you do go school is a choice. God is trusting you to make that decision based on available information.

This is the instance where praying these two verses makes a difference. Asking God for guidance in every step of our life is a good thing because we cannot see beyond the moment.
