7 Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 Peter 3:7
Something as simple as disrespect and being inconsiderate can hinder our prayers. God thought it was important enough to include as guidance for men in their relationships with their wives. The fact that we are harsh and disrespectful should concern us. Unfortunately, wives feel the brunt of husbands’ dissatisfaction with life. They take it out on the person closest to them. For it to be included in Scripture indicates that those character flaws are universal. Men could get upset thinking they were the only guilty culprits, and that all the other guys are gracious toward their wives. Fortunately (or unfortunately), you’re not alone.
The “cure” therefore would be to honor your wife in any way you can. Pray for her. Encourage her in her pursuits. Give her an unexpected gift. Send her a gushy text. Put her on your work calendar so you’ll e reminded to do something special for her.
And gentlemen, this would be an ideal verse to commit to memory.
