Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.
I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”
I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.

It’s totally refreshing to read the words of a king who knows who he is before the Lord and is unashamed to admit it. There are scant few leaders in the world today who are so bold, which means our job to pray for these leaders is obvious.

They need to have the wisdom of David in matters of State, and we need to pray to that end. It’s pretty simple really.

And though it seems at times that there is total chaos in the world, consider this: what would it be like if Christians were removed from the scene, and nobody was praying for the leaders at the top? It’s one of the many reasons Christ put us here.
