4 Deliver me, my God, from the hand of the wicked,
from the grasp of those who are evil and cruel. Psalm 71:4
While we are all born with sin nature, evil and cruelty are merely advanced forms of the sin. What I mean by that is that kids learn to be cruel; they’re not born with that innate trait. Little by little they learn what they can get away with, and by the time they’re adults, it’s a matter of degree o which their evilness has “evolved.”
For example, when you see the evil “monsters” who have committed horrendous and heinous evils against other people, realize that they didn’t start out that way. All along their path they made bad choices and never corrected them. So when people ask, “how did he get to be this way?,” know that it didn’t happen overnight.
So, how does this relate to us? Do you realize what you have been saved from? I’m not saying that once you are a Believer you are “out of the woods” to committing terrible sins. If the Holy Spirit is in you, the likelihood that you’ll turn into one of “those monsters” is slim. However, sin nature is still in us and is always always always battling against us, and that’s why I say we’re not quite out of the woods.
As we approach this topic, there are three things to keep in mind.
1. We are sinners.
2. We are saved by grace.
3. Greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4
Hallelujah!
