The righteousness of the blameless makes a straight way for them, but the wicked are brought down by their own wickedness. Proverbs 11:5
More than twenty years ago, we Boy Scouts sang “Vespers” before we headed off to bed:
“Softly falls the light of day
As our campfire fades away.
Silently each Scout should ask,
“have I done my daily task?
Have I kept my honor bright?
Can I guiltless sleep tonight?”
Have I done and have I dared
Everything to be prepared?”
Two questions in the midst of those lyrics touch upon our devotion theme today: honor and guiltless sleep.
As we head off to bed each night, can we answer those questions in the affirmative?
