Sound Judgment Matters

My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight. Proverbs 3:21

The world is in desperate need for sound judgment and discernment. We make judgments about people and things every day. Often we are tested between making a “slightly” unethical but beneficial decision with one that doesn’t benefit us and could even hurt us. There is a temptation to compromise, to go for the temporary gain instead of having the foresight to know that temporary gains aren’t all they are cracked up to be. We need discernment in our decisions, in our value, ethics, morals, and in our family.

Alan Simpson, former Senator from Illinois, said it best: “If you have integrity, nothing else matters; if you don’t have integrity, nothing else matters.”
