After Jesus said this, he looked toward heaven and prayed:
“Father, the hour has come. Glorify your Son, that your Son may glorify you. For you granted him authority over all people that he might give eternal life to all those you have given him. John 17:1-2
Here we get a glimpse at the ultimate Father-Son relationship and how prayer should be. Notice it’s not a list of “do this, do that” as we tend to pray. Part of it is acknowledging God’s sovereignty and glory, two areas we occasionally “take back” from God.
“You are in control” and “you get all the glory” should be on our minds often. Of course sovereignty and glory are much more complicated than that.
